Ice Age 2: The Meltdown
It’s that rat thing again. Maybe it’s the new meds talking, but we could watch that little dude all day.

And if you’ve seen the trailer, it’s just like the first one: prehistoric squirrel risks life and limbs to get the acorn. And causes devestation at the end.
Heck, it’s a great short even if it wasn’t advertising a movie.
I regularly code in 3 different languages (I don’t count (X)HTML or CSS as they’re mark-up, not programming, languages): Visual Basic 6 (not quite to .NET yet), Perl 5 & PHP (4 or 5). VB is a beast unto itself and not really related/similar to Perl/PHP…but then, it wasn’t designed to do the same things. Not that I haven’t seen people try. So I guess that’s one thing I learned about VB–it’s often better to chose a more suitable language then to try to shove a round peg into a square hole.
But that’s not what this post is about.
Perl & PHP are similar animals; very related languages. But I’ve noticed something in my years researching code, writing & debugging: the PHP community is much more apt to have readable, useful, up-to-date and easy to find documentation and tutorials over the Perl community. PHP.net is phenomenonal at documentation perl.com compared to perl.com. Actually…compared to just about anything I’ve had to research.
I can find a PHP tutorial/example/documenation on anything I’m looking for within 5min of Googling. Perl? Heh. I’m lucky if I can find something within the day. Actually…I guess VB does relate: I have just as much trouble finding good VB documentation and examples as I do Perl. (By documentation, I mean explanations of functions, etc.)
So, PHP community: kudos! Job well done. Perl and VB communities? Well, I point to PHP.
No, you don’t understand. I need to do something with my hair.
“Why?” you ask? Simple: it’s either that or I’ll get the irresistable urge to chop my hair off. And I don’t want to chop my hair off, not really. Honestly, I’m just getting used to this really-long-hair thing. I need it long for my sister’s wedding (in gasp 3 weeks!) and I’d really like to keep it long for my friends’ wedding in November (as I’ve never had one of those cool, loopy up-do’s you only get for prom or weddings). Supposedly, the Maid of Honor gives a bridal shower…except this Maid of Honor is sewing the bride’s wedding dress (as well as her own). So it’s really more like the Mother of the Bride that’s giving the shower…but I’m responsible for the games!
As seen in this month’s Real Simple
Ice Cream Maker
Intended use: duh
Bright Idea: cola slushies
**snicker** Sorry. I found it amusing.
I’ve got a goal: a minimum of one post per day, even if it’s just expanding this sites content (which, yes, is desperately needed. I’ve got some from previous incarnations I just haven’t had the opportunity to post anything).
Wow. I’ve all sorts of plans. I thought things were going to slow down once I had Nikk’s dress done (if it ever gets done!) But then I’ve got my dress for the wedding to make, then about 4 costumes! Eek!
And she lives!!
Yes, it’s only taken me over 7mo to get this girl launched, but here she is! Things are just about to clear up in my schedule (that meaning my sister’s wedding dress is nearly done & I don’t have another wedding to attend for a few months), so I should be able to finish getting to updates!
There’s loads more I have planned for this site, including a slick interface/layout. But as it’s taken me a month to even get this “quick & dirty” layout up and running…I figured I’d get this out, some updates done and at least have something to show! ![]()
But…must run!
My boyfriend’s sister’s getting married.
Yay!
#3 of 6 weddings this year!
Jeremy’s finally getting married!
This would be #2 of 6 weddings this year.
