Totally hilarious.
And then I happen to actually check a LJ that I rarely do and see that Stephen Brust has written the equivalent of a fan-fiction novel based on Firefly. Okay, cool. Brust has written one of my favorite novels: Cowboy Feng’s Space Bar and Grill (weird name, fun book). And ya know what? He’s got a knack for writing the craziness that is River. He’s written that style before in CFSBaG and he gets it.
Just needed to say that.

I have Great Plans for this site. It might even involve fashion.
But I need to do a “reboot.” Maybe for the new year.
Anyway, I wanted to log Tim Gunn’s 10 Basic garments and see if I have any of them and what I need (either make or purchase)

Basic Black Dress

<strike>Trench Coat</strike>

<strike>Classic Dress Pants</strike>

White Shirt

<strike>Jeans</strike>

Cashmere Sweater

<strike>Skirt</strike>

<strike>Day Dress</strike>

<strike>Blazer</strike>

<strike>Sweat Suit Alternative</strike>

I’m kinda surprised how many I have. A couple could use a little tailoring (dress pants, a couple of blazers) but I’ve pretty much got the list (and yes, I’m only counting pieces I see as flattering).
Oh there’s a piece or two they might argue about but for the most part, a little tailoring and I’d have it.
Yes, I need a LBD. I’ve threatened to make one for some time now. I’ve even tried a time or two. Oh well. And a white shirt…oh technically I have a summer shirt but I rarely wear it. I have plans for making a couple of white shirts (one silk, one cotton) in the next couple of months.
Jeans are iffy. I’ve basically got one pair I’m happy with. I’m always on the hunt for another.
I definitely have dresses and skirts. No problem there.
I have a couple of jackets that could count for my trench: my tan leather car coat, my tan raincoat (which is most closely a trench) and my denim duster.
As for my sweat suit alternative…I certainly have one for the summer: my ubiquitous knit slip-dress. I think I have enough options in my closet (that are quite comfy) to be sweat suit alternatives. I could probably work on that one (at least for winter wear). I don’t consider a dress sweat suit alternative in the winter–it requires tights.
And the cashmere sweater? Meh. I don’t need a luxury item. I do have a pashmina shawl so I’ll consider that as my sweater.
Anyway…

Or rather, some basic functionality needs to be enhanced.
See, at TPA, I have a lot of pages–all my projects to be exact. And while it’s cool to list all of them, for me that get’s a little much. I’d like to limit the number of pages shown (as in the archives) but also provide a link to see all projects. I’d like to sort that list by the most recently updated (that, however, could be a bit more complicated).
Actually, I really only want it for completed projects. That list is guaranteed to grow and not shrink.

I’m suprised I’m not more sore (actually, I’m barely sore at all).
I’ve probably just spoken too soon.
This weekend was full of dancing! I’m glad we chose to stay in Friday night; I’d really be pooped! Saturday we went out for a jog (about 2.5 miles) and while we were out our friend called to remind us about a benefit workshop he was doing that afternoon. A quick shower and lunch run later, we were at the studio for a three-hour salsa workshop (the benefit: a local dancer–whom I grew up with, by coincidence–made it to Vegas for So You Think You Can Dance?). Dinner downtown (sloooooow service) and then off to find that the “new” salsa night we were hoping for closed early. Again. Who closes a club–hell, a bar–at 10pm?? WTF? So it was off to the Howling Moon again. Meh. The DJ sucks there. Mostly hyper-merengues and lots of bachatas. Hardly any salsas.
Sunday we headed out to Ann Arbor for two more hours of workshops (taught by other people). I really enjoyed the Cha-Cha Shine class–it felt like I was back at a dance convention trying to cram in as much choreography in as little time as possible. Hopefully I can remember it! After a sushi dinner (I’m starting to like it more) we headed over to the YA Salsa monthly social. Wow! It was crowded (in a good way) and everyone was dancing! All levels of dancers; some were pretty amazing. And, naturally, good music! Mostly salsa, quite a few cha-chas and maybe one or two rhumbas. It was quite a late night!

I only made it through the first day of summer last night…but spring is pretty darn cool. Yes, I did use the “motherlode” cheat: mostly because I just want to get to exploring as quickly as possible.
Spring: rain and lightening. Coolness. The lightening freaked me out a bit at first, but it’s pretty slick. I didn’t notice any particular discomfort if my sims were outside in it. Couldn’t manage to get either of them to splash in puddles. Maxis needs a thermometer. Checking the weather report is nifty, but I’d like something like a thermometer (even it’s something the sims need to purchase).
Gardening or fishing is a big time-suck but very cool. Although my apple trees were getting sickly until I harvested them–on the first day of summer! Umm…apples aren’t good until Fall…
The thing that makes it most irritating is that the apples were ready for harvest before the strawberries OR tomatoes. WTF man!
I haven’t noticed too many new objects; just a few new styles (mostly ones I won’t be using as I’m not a fan of country). I love being able to set different hair for different outfits. Way cool.
I can’t wait to play some more! (And I anticipate the recolors/new meshes to come from the fans are going to be way cool too).
